The Eva K. Bowlby Library is proud to announce our new Smart Lockers! Curbside Pick-Ups have never been easier! Check out the full details below.
Purchased with generous funding from EQT, these smart lockers will enhance curbside pickup services at the Eva K. Bowlby Public Library, allowing patrons the flexibility of picking up their holds at their convenience.
These smart lockers are for patrons who would prefer to pick up holds outside of normal business hours, who are uncomfortable coming into the building, or need the flexibility of an easy/quick pick up.
A valid library card is necessary for the use of this service. First-time use of the lockers will require a quick and easy sign-up with the circulation desk. You will receive confirmation when this service is available, which may take up to one week.
Once you have been added to the smart locker system, you must notify the circulation staff by phone when you wish to pick up your holds from the locker with each transaction.
Once your items have been placed in the locker, you will receive an email and/or a text message with a 5 digit code, which is needed to open the smart locker. For your convenience, you may download the Smiota smartphone app to receive notifications and to open the locker without a code, but it is not necessary. If you choose to use the app, please make sure your device’s location AND Bluetooth are turned on when you come to collect your holds.
Items on hold will be checked out to your account and will remain in the locker for 3 days. Items not claimed during the 3-day window will be removed from the locker, checked back into the system and sent to the next patron on the waiting list.
